Nine people injured as Algerian plane skids off runway

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, June 3 (KUNA) -- At least nine people have been wounded when a military aircraft overshot the runway upon landing at Biskara airport, 450 kilometers (280 miles) south of the capital Algiers.
"The injured were whisked away to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention," Algerian television channels reported on Sunday.
Algeria is no stranger to plane crashes, as 257 people were killed last April when a military plane crashed just after takeoff in the North African nation's worst aviation disaster. (end) mr.nam
