Oman- Sharqiyah Expressway tunnel work 75% complete


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) announced that 75 per cent of work on a 600m tunnel in Nadab on the Bidbid-Sur road as part of the Sharqiyah Expressway is complete. The announcement came in the wake of a visit by the Minister of Transport and Communications and a number of officials.

Construction work has begun on another 1,400m long tunnel in Wadi Uq. The first phase of the Sharqiyah Expressway project is from the Bidbid roundabout on the Rusayl-Nizwa road and passes the wilayats of Samail, Mudhaibi and Dima Wa'al Taien and ends at the Masroun intersection in the wilayat of Ibra.

With a total length of 115km, the project involves a number of flyovers and multi-level intersections. The second phase stretches from Ibra to Sur with a total of 132km crossing the wilayats of Al Qabel, Bidiyah, Wadi Bani Khalid and Al Kamil W'al Wafi.
