Kuwaiti relief officials get acquainted with displaced Iraqis' needs

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, May 7 (KUNA) -- President of Relief Committee at Kuwait Relief Society Jamal Al-Nouri held talks with Kurdistan's interior Minister Karim Sinjari Monday on means of providing support for displaced Iraqis in Iraq's northern province.
Al-Nouri, speaking to KUNA following the meeting, said they discussed conditions of displaced people in Iraq's Kurdistan region in the wake of the liberation of Mosul from so-called Islamic State (IS).
He explained many displaced returned to their homes but others could not make it, so they need support.
Al-Nouri said his delegation and Sinjari discussed potential projects in the region.
Sinjari, he added, thanked Kuwait for relentless support over the past two years.
Kuwait Consul to Kurdistan Omar Al-Kanderi briefed Sinjari about the Kuwait-funded humanitarian operations over the past three years.
The Kuwaiti delegation is visiting Iraq's Kurdistan province to get acquainted with conditions of the displaced Iraqis in camps.
Kuwait hosted a conference for the reconstruction of Iraq last February, during which donors, financial institutions and NGOs pledged USD 30 billion. (end) sbr.bs
