GCC to invest USD49bn in airport construction projects

(MENAFN) BNC Network reported the GCC to spend USD49 billion in its aviation sector as it launches 95 listed airport construction projects in May this year.

In its statement, BNC Network said that the GCC is to begin 68 projects for airport terminals at a worth of USD45 billion, as well as 27 projects that are related to hanger, runway and ancillary facilities that would need over USD3 billion.

"The expansion of the airline fleet will put additional pressure on the region's aviation infrastructure in the future," BNC Network's CEO Avin Gidwani explained.

Gidwani added "therefore the investment in airport capacity expansion as well as the development of new airports will help manage the future demand of air traffic."
