Algeria, EU discuss peace path in Mali


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, May 3 (KUNA) -- European Union (EU) special representative to the Sahel region Angel Losada Fernandez and Algeria's foreign minister Abdelkader Messahel discussed on Thursday the situation and the peace process in Mali.
Following the meeting, Fernandez told reporters that they agreed that people of Mali should adopt their own peace path.
He added that they are in Mali to help its people build partnership led by Algeria for this purpose.
Furthermore, Fernandez and Messahel dealt with the strategic partnership in a number of issues in the Sahel region.
The European official lauded Algeria's essential role in exporting security to outside its territories.
He referred to visits he paid to the headquarters of the African Police Organization (Afripol) in Algiers and the European center for studies and researches on terrorism. (end) mr.hss.hm
