Doha: Al Shaqab will host the first Qatar Equine Foot Conference from May 3 to 5 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) and Al Shaqab.
The first in a series of planned continuing education seminars and short courses by the Equine Veterinary Medical Centre of Al Shaqab, the conference aims to inform and educate horse owners, trainers, farriers and veterinarians on common equine foot ailments such as limb imbalance, foal podiatry, laminitis and correct horseshoeing methodology.
It will focus on the form and function of the foot so that horse owners and trainers will be able to make management decisions on the care of the hooves, farriers and veterinarians will learn evidence based strategies to successfully manage a myriad of hoof problems in foals, horses in training and breeding horses.
Internationally renowned experts in the field of equine limb anatomy, biomechanics, locomotion and lameness are being specially flown in to lecture and conduct practical sessions for participants. The conference will be conducted in English but Arabic translations will be available.
The fee for the conference is QAR2,300. However, those who register before April 25, 2018 need only pay QAR2,000.
