UNSC dismisses Kuwait statement on Israel-Palestine clashes

(MENAFN) Kuwait has had its draft statement on Gaza violence unapproved by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Friday night.

The statement was circulated after a similar one was blocked by the US a week ago, with it referring to Palestinian protesters who were killed and injured on the hands of Israeli forces.

The statement urged for an independent inquiry to be opened so as to look into the obvious breach of human rights against Palestinians who ought to be granted permission for a peaceful protest.

Kuwaiti ambassador to the United Nations Mansour Al-Otaibi declared ahead of circulating the document his aspiration for all member countries to approve of the statement, saying "the wording did not represent the position of Kuwait or the Arabs to what is happening in Gaza, but the State of Kuwait wanted it to be balanced and acceptable by all parties."
