Chinese rebels among 7 dead in Badakhshan offensive


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Two Chinese were among seven militants killed during an operation that left another 13 rebels injured in northeastern Badakhshan province, the Afghan army said Saturday.

A statement from the Afghan National Amy€™s 209th Shaheen Military Corps said the clearing operation was conducted in Mirawab Raghak locality on Friday.

The operation codenamed €œKokcha-18€ is part the nationwide €œGrand Nasrat offensive.€

The statement said the dead included a deputy commander of Chinese militants Mustafa and another Chinese national. The statement carried no further details about the Chinese.

Earlier, the Afghan government had said that as many as 21 militant groups were operating in Afghanistan including the East Turkistan Chinese rebel group.
