(MENAFN) Sierra Leone has concluded its first round of the presidential election with a former military coup leader in the lead.
Julius Maada Bio took the lead with 43.3 percent votes, pushing him to go against the ruling party candidate Samura Kamara.
Brig Bio has already claimed leadership of Sierra Leone previously, as he led a military junta in 1996.
He assumed leadership right after Valentine Strasser, the soldier he supported to turn into the youngest leader in Africa in a different coup four years ago.
