Qatar- Traffic Dept places mobile radar at The Pearl

Doha: Qatar Traffic Department has setup a mobile radar at The Pearl-Qatar, where the maximum speed allowed in 80 km/h.

The department urged people to comply with the specified speed limit.

This was disclosed by the department on their twitter handle this evening.

Here are the other locations for mobile radars (Saturday, March 10) - Al Shamal (120km/h), Dukhan Shahaniya (120km/h), Salwa (120km/h), Orbital Road (120km/h) and AirForce Street (100km/h).

Ministry of Interior began with this initiative to promote road safety by forcing motorists to abide by the speed limits. These radars will catch seat belt violations, over speeding, overtaking from the wrong side in addition to usage of phone while driving.

General Directorate of Traffic Brigadier Mohammed Saad Al Kharji in an earlier interview had said that mobile radars are more effective in reducing speed violations since motorists are aware that radars are in place and they need to reduce their speed accordingly.

He requested motorists to take care of their lives and lives of road users. Al Kharji advised the youngsters to respect the traffic laws specially the speed limits because he said that most of the traffic accidents were occurring due to speeding.
