Al-Sisi made the statement while meeting with visiting Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmad, during which they discussed a number of regional issues of mutual interest, mainly counterterror, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radhi said in a statement.

They also considered ongoing efforts to find political settlements to the crises of some regional countries in order to maintain their respective national unity, he added.

The Egyptian president reiterated his country's interest in continuing efforts to develop and promote bilateral cooperation between both countries in all fields with a view to maintaining the common interest of both countries, he added.

The spokesman quoted the Bahraini minister as saying that he had handed a letter from Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to the Egyptian president on ways of bolstering bilateral ties.

The letter also included intensive consolations between both nations on regional issues in light of Egypt's central role in the Middle East region, he pointed out. (end) hdr.mt
