(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, March 7 (KUNA) -- A Bahraini criminal court on Wednesday sentenced nine terror convicts to 15 years in jail and ordered the revocation of citizenship of 15 others for establishing a terrorist group, Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution said.
In a press statement, Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution General Ahmed Al Hammadi said the High Criminal Court also sentenced eight people to life imprisonment and two others to 10 years in jail, and ordered a BD 100,000 (USD 264,224) fine on each.
He added the High Court of Appeals issued a verdict upholding the first instance ruling against 19 suspects charged with sharing intelligence information with a foreign country and a terrorist organization.
They also charged with receiving funds from the same country to implement hostile acts aiming to harm the Kingdom's interests, as well as establishing and joining a terrorist group and funding a terrorist group, he noted.
He pointed out that the case papers included evidence that the defendants met with leaders from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Lebanon's Hezbollah to get necessary financial and technical support in order to implement criminal plots of "Al-Basta" terror cell in Bahrain and fund its activities.
