DOHA: The Kitchen Garden, a special drive, initiated at the Junior Section of MES Indian School, yielded its first fruits recently, to the delight of staff and students.

As a part of educating young students to learn about the importance of clean air and leading a healthy lifestyle by consuming fresh vegetables, the Kitchen Garden is a joint endeavour of MES and ‘Nammude Adukkalathottam,' a Doha based Indian expatriates-run farming unit, affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre.

The students of Junior Section maintained Kitchen Garden under the supervision of teachers and CCF team.

The first produce of Kitchen Garden was harvested on February 27, in the presence of Principal, Hameeda Kadar and Headmistress, Sumayya Nazeer.

Broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, capsicum and tomato were among the vegetables harvested.

‘Kitchen garden at MES opens up doors for students to understand the importance of organic farming and eco system. This unique initiative of the school proved to be successful, as it draws children closer to nature besides advocating them healthy living', said the school principal officiating, Hameeda Kadar.
