Jordan- Prime minister meets Iraqi interior minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Feb. 19 (Petra)- Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki received on Monday the visiting Iraqi Interior Minister, Qasim al-Araji, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, attended by ministers of Interior, Ghaleb Al-Zubi'‏, State for Media Affairs, Mohammad Al Momani, and Iraqi ambassador to Jordan Safia Al-Suhail, the premier lauded bilateral ties as robust and historic, and pointed out the two countries constitute a "strategic depth" to one another.

The border Al Karama-Trebil crossing reopened few months ago is a vital and key gateway to reinvigorate joint economic and trade flow, Al-Mulki added, and highlighted importance to invest and cement this step to facilitate commercial exchange and to allow trucks to reach their final destinations in both countries.

Al-Mulki congratulated the Iraqi brethren on their victories against the terror Daesh gang and other heinous organizations, and expressed his confidence in Iraq's capability to assume its key role through unity of the Iraqi people and love for their country.

He stressed importance of enhancing orchestrated efforts to ensure unity and stability of the region's countries.

In turn, al-Araji extended his gratitude and appreciation for Jordan's stance in supporting Iraq in its war against terror, and said Iraq with all its constituents defeated terrorism and is pushing ahead in the right path to the future.

On border measures, he noted to the close cooperation between the two countries' interior ministries to protect and secure borders from any smuggling attempts, and added the Trebil-Bagdad road is safe, which will reflect on fostering mutual trade movement.

He also thanked Jordan's role to host Iraqi nationals and to provide them necessary services.
