Lebanon awards USD283 fiber-optic project to three firms




(MENAFN) Lebanese Ogero has presented SERTA Channels-Huawei, BMB-Calix and PowerTech-Nokia with a $283 million fiber-optic initiative to create what still needs to be created of the fiber-optic network.

The fiber-optic network, set to be concluded in 2020, links fiber backbone to streets and households across Lebanon.

The project aspires to provide over 50 megabits per second to internet users across Lebanon, and bringing about an over 10 times faster connection than seen now.

Lebanon has confirmed the awarded companies to have joined with leading global companies, SERTA Channels with Huawei, BMB with Calix, and PowerTech with Nokia.
