(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Qatar Charity's (QC) contributions to the ‘Orphan Below Zero' campaign have reached Kosovo and Bosnia, it was announced in a statement.
As part of ‘Rofaqa', a QC initiative that sponsors orphans and through ‘Orphan Below Zero', QC said it is determined to protect the poor children from freezing temperatures by providing them with food and winter bags.
For the second consecutive year, the campaign has reached more than 800 orphans in Kosovo and Bosnia, according to QC.
In Kosovo, 400 orphans sponsored by QC received food baskets, winter clothes, and blankets.
'Qatar Charity is launching this campaign to stand for poor orphans in Turkey, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia, Albania, and Kosovo. The campaign aims to raise QR3mn to provide essential living items and protect children and their families from the freezing cold, said Khaled al-Yafei, director of Project Management at QC.
Al-Yafei also thanked all the sponsors and donors of QC and praised 'their benevolence and unbreakable will to help those in need.
Anisa Hasani, an orphan sponsored by Qatar Charity in Kosovo, thanked the people in Qatar 'for their kindness and continuous support to help them survive the cold. Hasani said the beneficiaries 'are now safe and warm.
QC is also sponsoring more than 2,200 people in Kosovo, mostly orphans and children with special needs.
On the other hand, QC's bureau in Bosnia had distributed food baskets, winter clothes, and blankets to more than 400 orphans.
The campaign was launched during a sport and recreational event held in the city of Zavidovici, where children had the chance to interact with each other and receive awards. QC said it sponsors more than 2,505 people in Bosnia, where 2,205 are orphans.
QC said with QR500, donors can help protect orphans from freezing temperatures through a winter pack of clothes, blankets, medical kits, and food baskets 'to keep them safe, warm, and well-fed.
Donors can also contribute to the ‘Winter Below Zero' campaign at any QC collection point or donate money via the mobile App, Rofaqa.
