Kansas: man arrested after alleged 'swatting' led police to kill a man

(MENAFN) After police shot an innocent man dead due to an alleged "swatting" prank call, one man has been detained.

Police surrounded the house of Andrew Finch in Wichita, Kansas before shooting him at his front door after getting a prank emergency call from a male claiming he killed his father and held his family captive.

Even though the home which was surrounded apparently wasn't linked, U.S. media reported the hoax call to have been made due to a dispute amid two gamers playing Call of Duty.

The report is thought by police to have been an act of "swatting," an act of which an individual files a false report so as to send police to a fake address.
