PKK attack injures six soldiers in E. Turkey

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Dec 28 (KUNA) -- At least six soldiers were wounded on Thursday in a PKK attack in Turkey's eastern Hakkari province, the governor's office said.

PKK militants attacked the Zer Tepe and Kirmizikaya military bases in the Cukurca district, injuring six soldiers, Hakkari Governor's Office said in a press statement.

The injured soldiers were taken to Hakkari Hospital for medical treatment, while an air-backed operation was launched to hunt down the militants, it added.

Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU, the PKK resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015, following a stop of three years a half years. (end)
