(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat – A new law enforcement unit will join national security authorities in conjunction with the 's eve festivities, scheduled to take place next Sunday, December 31.
Head of the General Directorate of National Security ( ) has announced the creation of a 'commando unit' affiliated to the judicial police, reported Moroccan daily Al Massae. 'It would look more like the US Rapid Response Force.'
Dispatched in multiple teams, the new unit will operate in Morocco's big cities, such as Casablanca and Rabat.

Al Massae added that embassies, consulates, restaurants, nightclubs, train stations and airports will be closely monitored by local authorities across the country. Checkpoints will be set at the entrance of major cities that will experience the most flows.
Morocco will also deploy its General Intelligence teams to secure the New Year's eve festivities.
Moroccan daily Assabah, reported that summoned security chiefs in a series of meetings held at the headquarters of the DGSN. During the meetings, the head of the DGSN gave his orders to law enforcements to get ready to secure the festivities. Morocco will be protected by the national police, who will be assisted by large reinforcements from the other security corps.
