Jordan- British PM meets with a number of women from Jerash

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday met with a number of women from the northern Jerash governorate, who run productive enterprises at their homes as part of a UK-funded project.

A spokesman for the UK embassy in Amman said prime minister May discussed during the meeting efforts to enable women and how they help their families address household needs. The discussion also tackled challenges facing women's projects in Jerash.

During the meeting, the British prime minister said her government is keen to continue supporting women so they can actively play their role in the community, noting that the British government extended 2.5 million pounds to the Jordan project as part of her country's support to such projects in the Arab region. Mayor of Jerash Ali Qogzah thanked Prime Minister May and the British government, which implemented, in cooperation with the Arab Women's Enterprise Fund and Al Mazraa Dairy, a number of projects and provided in-kind and cash assistance to a number of household projects for local women in the Jerash governorate.
