09 Nov 2017

With the Caribbean players refusing to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns, the West Indies tour of Pakistan has been postponed.

The three-match-T20I series will now be planned for next year. According to a PCB source, "Some of the players like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo made it clear they would not be available for the series if it went ahead."

West Indies were scheduled to visit Pakistan for a three-match-T20I series this month. This was the third international series being hosted by Pakistan, after the World XI side visit to Lahore and Sri Lanka's tour.

World XI visit- a curtain raiser of sorts
First international series

Led by South Africa's Faf du Plessis, World XI team visited Pakistan earlier this September for a 3-match T20I series.

This marked the return of international cricket to the strife-torn country. After the 2009 terror attack, Pakistan had made UAE their home ground as none of the teams were ready to play in Pakistan.

Pakistan won the series against World XI 2-1.

Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan
T20 series

Nearly eight years after the 2009 terrorist attack on their team bus, Sri Lanka travelled to Pakistan for a lone T20 match on 29th October 2017.

While the first two matches of the three-match-T20 series were played in Abu Dhabi, the final match was held in Lahore.

Pakistan won this series 3-0. The visit was expected to re-establish Pakistan's reputation to host international cricket.
