Sabiha Gökçen Airport Sees Record Flight Activity Over Eid Holiday Period

(MENAFN) Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has recorded its busiest day ever, handling 894 domestic and international flights on the final day of the Eid al-Adha holiday, according to airport officials on Monday.

The figure represents the highest number of takeoffs and landings managed in a single day in the airport’s history, as stated in an announcement by HEAS, the airport’s ground operations authority.

Authorities said the high traffic volume was managed smoothly without disruptions through close coordination between HEAS and the airport’s terminal operator, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG).

HEAS was responsible for overseeing key operational areas, including air traffic control services, apron management, technical infrastructure, and airspace safety.

At the same time, ISG teams provided round-the-clock terminal services during the holiday period, covering security, cleaning, and passenger assistance operations.

The airport said the milestone reflects its expanding capacity, strategic importance, and ongoing technological development.
