Omar Brushes Aside Speculation Over June 3 National Conference Mlas' Meeting

(MENAFN- IANS) Srinagar, May 31 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday dismissed speculation surrounding a meeting of National Conference (NC) MLAs convened by him on June 3.

Omar Abdullah was reacting to speculation about the meeting, with some political observers and opponents attaching extraordinary significance to it and suggesting that something "big" was in the offing.

Taking a swipe at political opponents and commentators speculating about the purpose and outcome of the meeting with NC legislators, Abdullah said those making the most noise were the ones least informed about it.

"I love how the people who know the least about the meeting I've called with my MLAs are talking the most. Remember one thing – those who know don't speak and those who speak sit in the opposition," Abdullah said in a post on X.

The Chief Minister's remarks come amid growing political discussion over the significance of the meeting, with various opposition leaders and political observers offering differing interpretations of its agenda.

Without revealing specific details, Abdullah indicated that those directly aware of the discussions had maintained silence, while those outside the process, particularly members of the opposition, were engaging in public commentary.

The statement is being viewed as a strong rebuttal to opposition claims and media speculation regarding developments within the ruling National Conference.

His remarks suggest that the agenda of the meeting remains an internal party matter and that reports circulating in political circles may not be based on accurate information.

The meeting of National Conference legislators has attracted attention in Jammu and Kashmir, especially amid ongoing debates over governance, restoration of statehood and relations between the elected government and the Centre.

However, no official details about the deliberations or decisions expected from the meeting have been made public so far.

The speculation was further fuelled by a statement Abdullah made some time ago in which he said that after the Eid festival he would "burst like a cloudburst".
