Over 3.39 Lakh Added To J&K Panchayat Rolls
The exercise began with the publication of the draft electoral rolls on March 27, 2026, followed by a 40-day period for filing claims and objections till May 5. All submissions were examined and disposed of by Electoral Registration Officers by May 14, following which the final rolls were published on May 21.
According to the SEC, the revision process recorded significant voter activity across the Union Territory. A total of 3,39,384 new voters were added to the rolls, while 1,13,344 names were deleted due to death, shifting, duplication and other admissible reasons.

Besides, corrections were carried out in the particulars of 17,664 voters and 31,590 voters were transposed during the exercise.
With the latest revision, the total number of electors in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 72,24,131, including 36,62,502 male voters, 35,61,488 female voters and 141 third gender voters.
The Commission said this reflected a net increase of 2,26,040 voters compared to the previous revision concluded in January 2025, when the rolls contained 69,98,091 electors.
A total of 5,10,285 forms were received during the revision period and processed by Panchayat Election Booth Officials, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Electoral Registration Officers in accordance with prescribed procedures and timelines.
To enhance voter awareness and participation, the SEC carried out extensive SVEEP campaigns through print and electronic media, including radio jingles, newspaper advertisements and voter appeals by State Election Commissioner Shantmanu.

The State Election Commissioner appreciated the efforts of District Panchayat Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Panchayat Election Booth Officials, officials of the State Election Commission, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, and representatives of political parties for the successful completion of the exercise.
He also thanked the public for their participation and particularly lauded the enthusiastic response from youth, whose enrolment significantly contributed to the addition of over 3.39 lakh new voters to the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026.
