Ukraine Launches Nearly 600 Drones In Major Attack On Russia

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Ukraine launched nearly 600 drones against multiple regions in Russia overnight, killing at least four people and injuring 12, Russian authorities said Monday.

Russia's Defense Ministry said 586 Ukrainian drones targeted 14 Russian regions, including areas near Crimea and the Black and Azov seas, in one of the largest drone operations since the war began.

Russian officials said air defense systems intercepted 556 drones during the initial wave and later destroyed 30 more drones, including over 80 near Moscow.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attacks and said Ukrainian drones penetrated more than 500 kilometers into Russian territory, targeting oil infrastructure and military-linked industrial facilities.

Ukraine's security service said the operation targeted an electronics factory producing components for precision weapons and several oil pumping stations near Moscow.

The strikes followed Russia's recent three-day aerial assault on Ukraine, during which Ukrainian officials said Moscow launched more than 1,500 drones and dozens of missiles across the country.

Russia and Ukraine resumed heavy attacks after a temporary ceasefire linked to Victory Day celebrations collapsed, with both sides accusing each other of violating the truce.

The war has increasingly evolved into long-range drone warfare, with both countries regularly targeting military, energy and industrial infrastructure far from front-line positions. Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain deadlocked as fighting continues across eastern Ukraine and regional tensions remain high.
