(MENAFN) Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has met with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran for discussions focused on border trade, security coordination, and broader bilateral relations, according to reports citing Iranian state media.
The meeting took place during an unannounced visit by the Pakistani minister to Tehran, with Pakistani officials later confirming his arrival.
According to reports, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties and improving infrastructure along their shared border, which they described as a key area for enhancing regional stability and cooperation.
Minister Momeni reportedly highlighted longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two countries, expressing appreciation for Pakistan’s “friendly and brotherly” stance toward Iran. He also stressed the need to expand facilities along the border to promote what he described as unity, solidarity, and mutual benefit.
According to reports, the Iranian side underscored its intention to deepen trade relations and improve border security through joint initiatives, while calling for coordinated efforts to make the shared frontier more stable and productive.
Naqvi, for his part, thanked his Iranian counterpart for the reception and indicated that both sides are working toward practical solutions on issues related to trade, security, and bilateral cooperation.
According to reports, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry had previously described the visit as pre-planned and said further details would be released following the meetings.
