Tehran Denies Kuwaiti Accusations of IRGC-Linked Infiltration
(MENAFN) Iran has rejected allegations from Kuwait regarding an attempted infiltration involving members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), describing the claims as “baseless.”
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed accusations made by Kuwaiti foreign and interior authorities that Tehran had been planning hostile actions against the Gulf state.
The ministry also criticized what it called Kuwait’s “improper political and propaganda exploitation” of the case involving four Iranian personnel.
According to Tehran, the individuals in question were conducting a routine maritime patrol when a navigation system malfunction caused them to unintentionally enter Kuwaiti territorial waters.
Iran reiterated its stated commitment to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional countries, including Kuwait, and urged Kuwaiti officials to avoid what it called “hasty statements and unfounded claims,” instead handling the matter through established diplomatic channels.
The Foreign Ministry further requested that Iranian embassy staff in Kuwait be granted access to the detained personnel “as soon as possible” in accordance with international law, and called for their immediate release.
