Trump Rejects Iran Ceasefire Proposal, Says Terms Are Unacceptable
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest ceasefire proposal, stating that the conditions put forward by Iran are unacceptable to him, according to reports.
Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House, Trump said: “They've got to come up with the right deal. At this moment, I'm not satisfied.”
When asked to clarify his concerns, he added, “They’re asking for things that I can’t agree to."
He described the ongoing discussions as lacking coordination, saying, “Right now, we have negotiations going on. They're not getting there. They are very disjointed.” Trump further criticized Iran’s leadership, remarking, “They're not able to get along with each other as leaders. They don't know who the leader is.”
“They all want to make a deal, but they’re all messed up,” he added.
Trump noted that dialogue is still underway with the involvement of Pakistan, commending officials in Islamabad for cooperating with Washington, while warning that progress will take time, saying “the trip is a very long one.”
Although he acknowledged some limited progress, he remained doubtful about a final agreement, stating, “I'm not sure if they ever get there.”
The president also connected a potential resolution of the conflict to global energy markets, suggesting that oil shipments currently delayed near the Strait of Hormuz could resume. “When the war ends, gasoline prices will go down to below what they were,” he said.
