Israeli Fire Murders Palestinian in Gaza Amid Ceasefire Violations

(MENAFN) Israeli military fire killed a Palestinian near army positions on Saturday in the northern part of Rafah, according to reports, in what is described as another breach of a ceasefire that has been in place since last October.

Medical sources said the victim was struck in the Al-Baraksat area in northwestern Rafah. His body was later transferred to Khan Younis’s Nasser Hospital after he was identified as unknown. According to the same sources, the body remained at the scene for several hours because ongoing gunfire made recovery operations too dangerous.

In a separate incident in the north of the enclave, another Palestinian reportedly died from wounds sustained earlier near the Zikim area in northwestern Beit Lahia, as stated by medical officials.

The incidents come amid continued reports of near-daily attacks despite the ceasefire arrangement that has been in effect since October 10, according to reports.

On Thursday, additional fatalities were recorded, including four Palestinians among them a child, killed in separate incidents across the territory.

Gaza health authorities say that since the ceasefire began, hundreds of Palestinians have still been killed in ongoing strikes and raids. Figures cited by health officials indicate at least 773 deaths and 2,171 injuries during this period, despite the truce.

The ceasefire followed more than two years of large-scale conflict that has severely damaged infrastructure across the Gaza Strip. Health authorities estimate that over 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 172,000 wounded since the start of the war, with widespread destruction affecting the vast majority of buildings and services in the territory.
