Protest Erupts in Stockholm Against Israel’s West Bank, Lebanon Actions
(MENAFN) Hundreds of people gathered in central Stockholm on Saturday to protest Israel’s reported plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, as well as its ongoing military actions in Lebanon.
The demonstration took place at Odenplan Square and was organized by multiple civil society groups. Participants voiced concern over what they described as an escalation of Israeli policies across the region.
Protesters accused Israel of violating the Oct. 10 ceasefire agreement by targeting civilian areas in both the West Bank and Lebanon. They held signs reading “Children are being killed in Gaza,” “Schools and hospitals are being bombed,” “Stop the attacks on Lebanon,” and “End food shortages.”
Speaking at the rally, activist Rana Qadri said she views Israeli actions in Palestinian territories as part of a wider strategic vision. “As long as the ‘Greater Israel’ plan exists, Israel will not abandon its strategy of destroying countries it sees as threats to that goal,” she said.
Qadri also criticized what she described as a lack of international response to Israeli policies, including a recent Israeli parliamentary decision concerning the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.
“If a Muslim country proposed a similar law, the whole world would react,” she said. “But when it comes to Israel, everything is allowed to pass without consequences.”
