Millions Allocated For CM's BMW Tires In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - Questions Raised
At the request of the Chief Minister Secretariat, the Finance Department has released a total of PKR 14,773,760. Out of this amount, PKR 14,250,000 were retained, while PKR 523,760 were provided as additional funds under the current fiscal year's grant.
According to a circular issued by the Finance Department, this amount has been allocated for the purchase of four tires for the 2014-model bulletproof BMW. Accordingly, the price of one tire has been set at PKR 3,693,440.

The circular further states that an official request had been made by the Chief Minister's House, indicating that it had become imperative to replace the tires of the vehicle immediately. In response, the Finance Department approved the funds with certain conditions.
Meanwhile, government sources say that this is not an ordinary vehicle but an armored (bulletproof) car, whose tires are of a specific type and priced according to the company's set rates.
According to sources, such tires cannot be purchased from the regular market or any local vendor because in that case, ensuring quality and accountability would be difficult; therefore, direct purchase from the company is necessary.
Government sources further clarified that maintenance and repair costs for security vehicles are much higher compared to ordinary vehicles, and therefore, these expenses should be viewed in that context.
