“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz,” the US President said in a social media post.
“I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” Trump said, adding that this will be a double sided ceasefire.
He said the US has received a 10-point proposal from Iran which he believed was a“workable basis on which to negotiate”.
That two-week period would be used to negotiate a larger agreement to potentially end the war.
“The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump said.
“We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate,” he said.
Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the US and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalised and consummated, the president said.
“On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honour to have this Longterm problem close to resolution,” Trump said.

Iran said the move represents a“historic and crushing defeat” for the US, claiming Washington has been forced to accept Tehran's 10‐point plan as the basis for talks.
Iran's Supreme National Security Council has announced that negotiations with the United States will begin on Friday, April 10, in Islamabad, allocating a two‐week period that may be extended by mutual agreement.
Iran's foreign minister shared a statement on behalf of Iran's Supreme National Security Council declaring that“if attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations.”
“For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran's armed forces and with due consideration to technical limitations,” Araghchi added.
Iran's foreign minister said in a statement that Iran has agreed to Pakistan's proposal for a cease-fire and that if attacks against Iran are halted, Iran will also“cease their defensive operation.

Pro-Iran hackers breach US infrastructure
The Associated Press, quoting federal authorities, reported pro-Iran hackers have breached US infrastructure.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the FBI and the National Security Agency together issued the warning on Tuesday, reporting that hackers allied with Iran exploited vulnerabilities in internet-connected devices used to control machinery used in several important sectors.
They offered no details about the attacks but said they were intended to disrupt operations and cause financial harm.
The bulletin urged any US entity that uses the controllers to check their cyber defences.
A number of cyberattacks targeting US and Israeli entities have been attributed to pro-Iran hackers since US-Israeli strikes began. Authorities say critical infrastructure like ports and water plants could be targeted by Iranian hackers or independent groups working on their behalf.
