Jordan, Qatar Slam Iran’s Arab Strikes as Breach of International Law

(MENAFN) The foreign ministers of Jordan and Qatar jointly condemned Iran's military strikes on Arab states Monday, calling the attacks a clear breach of international law and a violation of fundamental principles governing relations between neighboring states.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met in Doha with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, where the two officials reaffirmed "Jordan and Qatar's condemnation of the Iranian attacks on both countries and on other brotherly Arab states."

The ministers declared "full solidarity" in the face of the strikes, characterizing them as "a violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and an assault on the sovereignty of states." They also pledged continued joint efforts toward stabilizing Gaza and ensuring the immediate and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to its population.

The joint statement comes amid a sustained escalation triggered by the US-Israeli military offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, which has killed more than 1,340 people to date, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran has responded with waves of drone and missile attacks on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting American forces, and has curtailed shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict has since spilled into Lebanon, with the Israeli military conducting airstrikes and ground operations while Hezbollah launches cross-border attacks into northern Israel.
