Israel Gears Up for Escalation as Trump’s Iran Deadline Nears
(MENAFN) Israel is reportedly preparing for a significant escalation against Iran after the deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reach an agreement expires.
According to reports, Israeli assessments suggest that Trump could intensify attacks on Iran once the deadline ends on Tuesday. An unnamed Israeli source said the country is preparing to conduct large-scale joint strikes with the US targeting Iran’s national infrastructure.
“We are ready for major escalation in Iran once the deadline ends and are awaiting US approval,” the source said, while also noting that concerns remain that Trump might call for a ceasefire at the last moment before the deadline.
The reports added that Israeli officials expect to receive a green light to target energy-related and infrastructure sites in Iran once the deadline passes. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also anticipated to hold a limited security meeting on Monday with senior defense officials to review potential escalation measures.
Trump has reportedly given Iran until 8 pm Tuesday to comply with reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reaching an agreement, warning that failure to do so could prompt attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.
