Iran Drone Attack Targets US Base in Kuwait, Injures 15 U.S. Personnel

(MENAFN) An Iranian drone strike struck the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait overnight, injuring 15 American service members, according to a report published Monday.

Media, citing two US officials, reported that the majority of those wounded have since returned to active duty. The base, positioned approximately 37 kilometers (23 miles) from the Iraqi border, serves as a critical hub for American military operations across the region.

The strike is the latest in a series of retaliatory actions by Tehran following the joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran launched on Feb. 28, which has claimed more than 1,340 lives to date — among them former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with a sustained campaign of drone and missile strikes against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US forces, while simultaneously tightening its grip on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
