Netanyahu Warns Trump Against Early Ceasefire with Iran
(MENAFN) Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly urged Donald Trump not to pursue a ceasefire with Iran at this stage, citing concerns over potential strategic risks, according to reports.
During a phone call on Sunday, Netanyahu expressed reservations about a truce, warning that it could carry significant risks. Trump, however, responded that a ceasefire could be considered if Tehran meets US demands, including the handover of all enriched uranium and a commitment not to resume uranium enrichment.
Separately, Netanyahu posted on the US social media platform X on Monday that he had spoken with Trump on Sunday and praised him for a “heroic rescue operation” involving a US aircrew member, while Trump expressed gratitude for Israel’s support.
The Israeli leader added that Trump commended Israel as a “steadfast, determined, and firm ally” and emphasized that both nations are “continuing to crush Iran’s regime of terror.”
These statements come amid ongoing tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Since the start of US-Israeli strikes on Feb. 28, over 1,340 people have reportedly been killed, including Ali Khamenei
