US-Israeli Airstrikes Target PMF Positions in Iraq's Anbar

(MENAFN) More than seven US-Israeli airstrikes pounded positions belonging to Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Anbar province on Tuesday, inflicting material damage while leaving no reported casualties, the paramilitary group announced.

According to a statement carried by Iraqi media, the strikes zeroed in on installations linked to the PMF's Anbar Operations Command and the 13th Al-Tufuf Brigade.

The assault targeted communications infrastructure, military vehicles, and multiple transport units, the statement said.

Tuesday's strikes represent the latest eruption of violence in a region that has been in a state of sustained conflict since Israel and the US launched a coordinated offensive against Iran on February 28 — a campaign that has killed more than 1,340 people to date, among them then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has responded with retaliatory waves of drone and missile strikes directed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states where US military forces are based, leaving a trail of casualties and infrastructure destruction in its wake while delivering severe disruptions to global markets and regional aviation routes.
