Erdogan Warns Mideast War Rages On Amid Israeli Obstruction of Diplomacy
(MENAFN) Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that ongoing fighting in the Middle East, which began on Feb. 28, continues to result in casualties despite diplomatic initiatives, accusing Israel of obstructing attempts to end the conflict, according to reports.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, he stated: "Israel’s government continues to undermine all efforts to end war."
He also argued that Israel “proves it feeds on tensions” through actions such as keeping Al-Aqsa Mosque closed to worshippers, pushing for the death penalty for Palestinian detainees, expanding its activities in Lebanon, and repeatedly striking neighboring Syria.
Erdogan warned that the conflict is at risk of widening across the region as it enters its 38th day, adding that Türkiye has stepped up diplomatic efforts to halt the violence and open the door for negotiations.
“I on one hand and our Cabinet ministers on the other have accelerated diplomatic contacts,” Erdogan said, noting that Ankara is working earnestly to use any available opportunity to stop the fighting and create conditions for dialogue.
He emphasized that since the outbreak of the war, Türkiye has followed what he described as a “brotherhood law,” maintaining a balanced approach by addressing both right and wrong regardless of the party involved.
