BURBANK - Disney has named longtime communications executive Paul Roeder senior executive VP and chief communications officer, as incoming CEO Josh D'Amaro begins shaping the company's senior leadership team.
Roeder, who takes on the role March 19, will report directly to D'Amaro and lead Disney's global communications and public relations function. His responsibilities include oversight of enterprise and business-segment communications, regional teams across EMEA, APAC and Latin America, and areas such as media relations, executive and internal communications, employee engagement, public affairs and corporate social responsibility.
He succeeds Kristina Schake, who announced in February that she would step down from the role alongside the planned transition from CEO Bob Iger. Schake joined Disney in 2022 and helped guide communications during a period marked by leadership change, political scrutiny and shifts in the company's business strategy.
Roeder is a 25-year Disney veteran who most recently served as executive VP of communications for Disney Entertainment Studios, direct-to-consumer and international. In that role, he oversaw global communications strategy for the company's film studios and production labels, as well as Disney Theatrical Group and Disney Music Group, and supported messaging tied to streaming operations, product and technology and international distribution.
He has also been closely involved in communications around major corporate milestones including the integrations of Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox and the launch of Disney+. Roeder has led communications for The Walt Disney Studios since 2010 and previously held corporate communications roles after joining the company's ABC communications team in 2001.
