RBI Launches Digital Payments Awareness Pilot Programme


(MENAFN- KNN India) Mumbai, Mar 13 (KNN) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a pilot programme titled 'Awareness Program on Digital Payments' to promote safe and wider adoption of digital payment systems, as part of the sixth edition of Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW) being observed from March 9–13, 2026.

The pilot, launched by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, will be conducted in Maharashtra in partnership with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited.

It aims to conduct in-person awareness sessions for 10 lakh participants in rural and semi-urban areas through Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

Speaking at the launch, Malhotra emphasised the importance of maintaining trust in digital payments and highlighted the central bank's efforts to strengthen customer awareness and protection.

He also urged stakeholders to collaborate to enhance public confidence in the adoption and use of digital payment systems.

The RBI also launched a multi-media awareness campaign titled“Thoda Dhyan Se”, encouraging users to remain cautious while making online payments and conducting digital transactions.

Following the launch, the RBI Governor interacted with Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of select Payment Systems Operators (PSOs) to discuss issues related to the digital payments ecosystem.
