Canada Police Arrest Two After Shooting At US Consulate In Toronto

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Canadian police said Tuesday that a shooting at the US Consulate in Toronto is being treated as a“national security incident,” and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack.

According to police reports, several shots were fired toward the consulate building at around 4:30 a.m. Authorities said two men stepped out of a vehicle, fired multiple rounds with a handgun at the building, and then fled the scene.

Police later detained two individuals believed to be linked to the incident. Officials said no one was injured during the attack, and the heavily reinforced consulate building prevented any significant damage.

Authorities said they only became aware of the shooting about an hour after it occurred when a witness informed police officers who were already present in the area.

Following the incident, Canadian police increased security around US and Israeli diplomatic and consular facilities across the city as a precaution.

The attack comes at a time of heightened global tensions following the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has raised security concerns in several countries.

Officials have not yet confirmed the motive behind the shooting, but Canadian police said they have not ruled out a possible connection to the US military operations against Iran.

Investigators say the case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine whether the attack was politically motivated or linked to broader geopolitical tensions.
