Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Qatar Autism Society to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and enhance their quality of life.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference held at the Directorate's headquarters, where officials reviewed ongoing areas of cooperation aimed at addressing beneficiaries' needs and ensuring the sustainability of services provided to them.

Eng Hassan bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, expressed pride in the distinguished role played by the Qatar Autism Society in supporting and empowering individuals with ASD.

He confirmed the continued endowment support for the Society and its programmes, underscoring the humanitarian and developmental importance of its work and the shared commitment to integrating individuals with autism into society.

Al Marzouqi also praised the generous donors who have contributed to the Healthcare Endowment Fund and the Family and Childhood Care Endowment Fund, noting that the support provided reflects Awqaf's dedication to strengthening essential services that improve the lives of individuals with autism and their families. He described the partnership as an institutional model for coordinated community efforts in serving vulnerable groups.

For his part, Saad Mohammed Al Ghanem, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Autism Society, highlighted the tangible outcomes of the training programmes implemented over the past year. He stated that 565 participants benefited from specialised training initiatives, in addition to 440 beneficiaries served at the Society's premises, bringing the cumulative total to 2,123 beneficiaries by the end of December last year.

Al Ghanem emphasised that these figures reflect the scale of fieldwork and specialised efforts dedicated to developing beneficiaries' skills and supporting their social integration. He added that endowment contributions have played a significant role in expanding the Society's services, covering programme and course costs, and strengthening its capacity to deliver long-term, sustainable developmental services.

The partnership aligns with Qatar's national vision to empower persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder and promote their social inclusion through sustainable and comprehensive services. The collaboration between the General Directorate of Endowments and the Qatar Autism Society translates this vision into tangible local action by supporting rehabilitation and training programmes that enhance the lives of beneficiaries and their families.

These efforts also resonate with global initiatives endorsed by the United Nations, which designated April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day to promote understanding, inclusion, and improved quality of life for individuals with autism.

The General Directorate of Endowments has called on philanthropists wishing to establish an endowment-whose returns support designated endowment funds as a lasting charity, to contribute through it communication channels. The Directorate reaffirmed that sustained endowment support remains a cornerstone in empowering beneficiaries and reinforcing social solidarity across Qatar.
