China Urges “Immediate” End to US, Israeli Attacks on Iran
(MENAFN) China has demanded an “immediate” end to military actions after the US and Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed “high concern” over the attacks and emphasized “respect” for Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. In a statement posted on X, the ministry said: “China calls for an immediate stop of the military actions, no further escalation of the tense situation, resumption of dialogue and negotiation, and efforts to uphold peace and stability in the Middle East.”
The call for restraint came as explosions rocked Tehran and Israel announced what it described as “preemptive” strikes on Iranian targets, while US President Donald Trump confirmed the launch of “major combat operations” in the country.
Tehran denounced the attacks as military aggression, calling them a violation of its sovereignty and a breach of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. Stressing its right to self-defense, Iran stated that it had prioritized diplomacy to avoid war but declared: “the time has now come to defend the homeland,” and vowed that its armed forces would respond in a “decisive and powerful manner.”
