LG Reviews Security, Urges Calm Across J & K


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Jammu- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday chaired a high level review meeting in Jammu to assess the prevailing security situation across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor said peace is a collective responsibility and appealed to all communities to uphold harmony. He commended the coordinated efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces and civil administration in maintaining law and order.

“I urge all communities to remain calm and united in this hour. I salute the unwavering, synchronized resolve of our Police, security forces and civil administration upholding law and order,” he said.

Sinha also stated that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia. He said senior officials of the Union Territory are in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety and welfare of residents and students from Jammu and Kashmir currently in the region.

Officials said the administration remains vigilant and prepared to respond to any contingency, with a focus on maintaining stability and ensuring public safety across the UT.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior officials, and all Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police.

'Remain Vigilant Against Radicalisation'

Manoj Sinha urged every section of society to remain vigilant against elements attempting to radicalise youth and sustain the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that collective responsibility is key to safeguarding lasting peace.

Addressing an event organised by the Federation of Trade and Industry of India, the Lieutenant Governor said sustained peace and stability were essential for economic growth and social progress in the Union Territory.

He cautioned that while Jammu and Kashmir has made significant strides in recent years, efforts to mislead and radicalise young people continue.“Every section of society must stay alert against forces trying to radicalise the youth and keep the terror ecosystem alive,” he said.

Emphasising meritocracy and transparency, Sinha called for collective action to build a corruption free and technologically driven governance system. He said the number of stakeholders invested in peace has increased substantially over the past few years, with the majority of citizens prioritising stability and prosperity.

The Lieutenant Governor maintained that economic empowerment, employment generation and inclusive development remain central to neutralising disruptive forces. He added that the government is focused on strengthening grassroots level opportunities to ensure that youth channel their energies into constructive avenues.

Several trade and industry representatives, public representatives and senior officials were present at the event.
