Security Situation Forces Closure Of 90+ Schools In Border Districts

Due to rising tensions along the Pak–Afghan border, educational activities in the former tribal districts have been disrupted.

In light of security concerns, 39 schools in Bajaur district and 53 in Mohmand district have been closed until further notice. Additionally, several government educational institutions in the border areas of Landi Kotal tehsil in Khyber district have also been shut down.

According to the district administration, educational institutions in Bajaur's tehsils of Nawagai, Wara Mamond, and Loi Mamond will remain temporarily closed due to the deteriorating security situation.

Similarly, in Mohmand district, 53 educational institutions in the tehsils of Baizai, Khwezai, and Safi have been ordered to remain closed until further instructions.

Meanwhile, in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber district, the education department has issued a formal notification announcing the indefinite closure of several government schools in border areas.

The statement said that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and teachers and to prevent any untoward incidents.

Officials said the current security situation is being closely monitored, and a decision regarding the resumption of academic activities will be made once conditions improve.

Security forces remain on high alert in the border areas, while local residents have expressed concern over the escalating tensions.
