(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, March 1 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud stressed Sunday the importance of protecting vital maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, due to their strategic significance for the global economy and energy security.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two ministers discussed, during a phone call, the latest regional developments and their impact on security and stability in the region.
According to the statement, Minister Hussein noted that the continuation of war could exacerbate energy market disruptions and negatively affect global market stability.
Both ministers emphasized that the best way to address crises is through peaceful means, highlighting dialogue and negotiations as the primary approach to resolving disputes. (end)
