Italian Defense Minister Stuck in Dubai Amid Flight Suspensions

(MENAFN) Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto was stranded in Dubai on Saturday with his family due to temporary flight suspensions after US and Israeli military strikes on Iran, according to reports.

Crosetto had traveled from Rome on Sunday to join his family, with plans to return together to Italy, but air traffic in the region was halted amid heightened security concerns following the attacks, preventing their return. Italian authorities are closely monitoring the situation and awaiting the resumption of flights.

The joint US-Israeli strikes, launched early Saturday, were described by Washington and Tel Aviv as targeting alleged "threats" posed by the Iranian "regime." Separate video messages from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump also suggested support for potential governmental changes in Tehran.

In response, Iran condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and launched retaliatory attacks.
