Three Explosions Hit Tehran After Israel Announces Military Offensive

(MENAFN) Three explosions were reported in Tehran on Sunday, shortly after Israel declared the beginning of a new military campaign against Iran, according to media accounts and news agencies.

Eyewitnesses described hearing loud detonations and observing smoke rising from several parts of the capital. Some also reported the sound of drones operating overhead.

The Israeli military said a day earlier that it had initiated strikes aimed at Iranian missile infrastructure and air defense systems, as stated by official Israeli broadcasting sources. The announcement preceded reports of the blasts in Tehran.

Earlier on Saturday, the United States and Israel carried out attacks on the Iranian capital while diplomatic efforts over Tehran’s nuclear program were still underway under Omani mediation.

A recent round of negotiations held in Geneva concluded on Thursday.

This latest escalation follows previous confrontations. During a 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran last June, the United States also targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities.
