MSME Schemes Extended To Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao Rs 10 Crore Project Under Implementation: Govt


(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Feb 14 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Manufacturing units are being promoted across the country, including aspirational and tribal districts such as Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao in Assam through various central and state-level industrial development schemes, Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje said.

In written reply to a question, she said that Ministry of MSME is implementing multiple schemes to address infrastructure, logistics and skill gaps.

These include the Scheme for Promotion of MSMEs in North East Region

(NER) and Sikkim, Micro and Small Enterprises–Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programmes, and MSME Champions Scheme.

In addition, other central schemes supporting the North Eastern region include the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme (UNNATI-2024), North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS), 2017, and the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

The Government of Assam is also implementing the Industrial & Investment Policy, 2019 (as amended), Assam Start-up & Innovation Policy, 2025, and the Assam State Bamboo Mission (ASBM) to strengthen the local industrial ecosystem.

Providing district-wise details, the Minister said that under the Scheme for Promotion of MSMEs in NER & Sikkim, one project from Karbi Anglong district titled 'Infrastructure Development Facilities & Up-gradation in the Existing Complex, Manja Industrial Complex' was approved during FY 2023-24.

The project, cleared in the 10th Project Appraisal and Monitoring Committee meeting held on October 26, 2023, is currently under implementation with a total approved cost of Rs 10 crore, comprising Rs 9 crore as Government of India grant and Rs 1 crore as State share.

Awareness and skill development programmes are also being conducted in the districts under the RAMP Programme.

Under the ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect) Certification Scheme, three units have been registered in Dima Hasao district, while 30 units are registered in Karbi Anglong district, including two units that have received Bronze certification.

Further, as per the Government of Assam, seven proposals aimed at supporting manufacturing MSMEs in Karbi Anglong district have been received and approved.
