Mexico Pledges Continued Aid to Cuba Amid U.S. Sanctions

(MENAFN) Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum pledged Monday to sustain relief efforts for Cuba, defying U.S. economic penalties imposed on nations trading with or supplying oil to the island.

Speaking at her routine morning briefing, Sheinbaum declared: "There will be more support. The Mexican people are always solidary. No one can ignore the situation that the Cuban people are currently experiencing due to the sanctions being imposed by the United States."

The Mexican leader urged Washington and global powers to acknowledge the punitive measures inflict unjust hardship on Cuban civilians.

Mexico's navy recently deployed two vessels loaded with 814 tonnes of food provisions to the Caribbean island nation, marking the latest humanitarian intervention despite mounting U.S. pressure on countries maintaining Cuban trade relations.
